Albanian Police staged a broad operation on Friday hunting for the international fugitive Klement Balili, an Albanian national accused of international drug trafficking.

Police searched for the alleged drug trafficker in 10 houses and three hotels in Delvina and Saranda city, properties owned by Balili and his relatives.

Security forces couldn’t find Balili but they accompanied at police department 11 people, including Balili’s wife, son and nephew.

They were asked at the Gjirokastra Police Department where they said they had no information where Balili was.

The police operation to catch the alleged trafficked comes as Albanian President Bujar Nishani has announced he is going to convey the National Security Council to discuss police’s failure to arrest him.

The council will be conveyed upon the request from Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta, who argued his call for the meeting after concerns voiced by the international partners about the inaction of Albanian institutions. /tvklan.al
