PM Rama: Albanians to protect Kosovo by all means
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has made it clear to Belgrade that Albania and Kosovo are together in promoting peace, but they are also unified in protecting Kosovo’s territorial integrity.
Rama said that if Serbs intend to impinge a centimeter from our territory “we are ready to respond.”
Rama, who held an official visit in Kosovo on Thursday, told Klan Kosova’s Baton Haxhiu that “
Practically, the issue of Kosovo’s territory has been closed the very same day when it’s independence was signed. Our two countries are firmly side by side to promote peace. Are side by side also to protect the integrity. There is no chance for Kosovo to be compromised even at a square centimeter of its territory
.”
Rama laso comented Serbian PM’s statements on Albanian PM’s visit at the headquarters of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, a party led by former PM and Kosovo Liberation Army member, Ramush Haradinaj.
Serbian PM Alexander Vucic condemned Rama’s visit at the party’s headquarters saying the international community would have reacted if he would have visited the headquarters of an extreme Serbian party in region.
Rama advised Vucic to not visit extremists “
because people will recall Vucic has once been with them
.”
“
I will visit my friends. He calls them extremists, we call them liberators
,” Rama said, speaking about Haradinaj, accused by Serbia for alleged crimes, but hailed as hero by Albanians for his role at the Kosovo Liberation War in 1998 and 1999.
Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia in 2008 and is recognized by over 110 countries, including the U.S., Germany and France but Belgrade still insists it belongs to Serbia despite the state is populated over 90 per cent by Kosovo Albanians.
Last month, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci accused Serbia of arming the Serbian nationals living in northern regions of Kosovo.
In an interview with “Deutsche Welle”, Thaci said that “
Serbia is trying to implement Russian model in Ukraine. (Belgrade) is sending civilians, but also uniformed people to the north of Kosovo and is arming Serbs with handguns and other weapons.”
