Albanian opposition called Tuesday for nation-wide protests against the corrupt government, in a move aimed at forcing PM Rama to resign.

Democratic Party led opposition’s protest in front of Prime Ministry building in capital Tirana entered Tuesday its fourth day. The opposition says it will not step back from its condition of a caretaker government as the only guarantor for free and fair elections.

“There is no greater task than taking this protest across Albania,” Democratic Party Leader, Lulzim Basha, said Tuesday, speaking to the protesters who are staying at the tents in the boulevard, day and night.

“Nothing will be as before, until the voice of Albanians will be heard and their will is respected,” Basha said.

“Isn’t it the time to bring down the government?” Basha asked, arguing that the institution of Albanian state has fallen, the rule of law has fallen, the parliament has fallen as it is full of MPs with criminal records and the economy has fallen in the hands of a group of oligarchs.

Albania is scheduled to hold the new general elections in June, 18, with the opposition insisting that only with the implementation of the electronic voting system the process can be guaranteed. The government in the other hand says that there is no time to implement the system. /tvklan.al
