Kosovo’s President gives Ramush Haradinaj mandate for Prime Minister
President Hashim Thaci has just mandated Ramush Haradinaj for Prime Minister of Kosovo.
” I just accepted the proposal from the June 11th-winning coalition, which has been voted from the majority in Parliament, for appointing a new Kosovo Government’s mandate,” said Thaci, reports Klan Kosova.
“Based on my constitutional powers, through a decree I have given to Mr. Ramush Haradinaj the mandate to form the new Government of the Republic of Kosovo, proposed by this coalition, “
he added.
The 48-year-old Haradinaj has been tried and acquitted twice on war crimes charges at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague.
Haradinaj was elected as Kosovo’s Prime Minister in 2004 but resigned after 100 days to surrender himself for trial at The Hague. He denies all charges.
