SP-DP dialogue on electoral reform
Edi Rama and Lulzim Basha could sit again, this time at a high-level political electoral reform table. The proposal was made at the Conference of Speakers by the Socialist Group leader Taulant Balla.
“This political round table should contain the most important parties of the country represented in the Assembly, SP, DP and of course their representation be at the highest level, party chairman, parliamentary group chairman and another senior representative each party in order to begin on this table to identify the things that unite us.”
But the Democratic Party group leader, Edmond Spaho, after the conference did not stop at Balla’s proposal addressing Lulzim Basha, though he was optimistic about setting up an ad-hoc commission for electoral reform.
“It is being worked by the parties to finalize the object, composition and time. If we manage to close it until tomorrow it will pass to the session, in contrast to the first session, which falls next week.”
Despite the invitation made to Democrats, Taulant Balla reiterated Prime Minister Rama’s stance for unconditional electoral reform.
“SP can not be a functional DP addendum. I hope that Spaho will re-send this positive message to Basha in order for these important issues that today unite us, but also those that do not unite us, but should unite us, address them at this level. “
And while the DP’s SP is on the right track, the parties at the Speaker’s Conference have not agreed to the addition of the structure of the three new Vetting bodies, where the Democrats have also deposited their amendments. Most at the conference did not even accept a request made in the legislature passed by Democrats for holding a referendum on the import of waste./tvklan.al
