International Monetary Fund mission chief Anita Thuludhar and Permanent IMF representative in Tirana, Jens Reinke, expressed their appreciation for the role of the opposition in overseeing and controlling the government over the past four years at a meeting with the DP leader Lulzim Basha.

Basha thanked the IMF for co-operation and informed them about the OSCE-ODIHR report.

“Unemployment among young people continues to be high levels, and business has shrinking its activity by not making decisions for enlargement. This, coupled with a very low level of foreign investment, makes it possible for the private sector to no longer be a highly demanded employer”.

Opposition’s leader also spoke about the government’s anti-informal campaign, which he said in the past has brought major concerns to businesses.

“This campaign will be geared towards small business taxpayers and will continue to allow large abusers operating with government support. Businesses are disturbed by high taxes, the complicated fiscal system and bureaucracy and corruption coming from high levels. Corrupt bidding that has raised public money to a bunch of people has excluded many serious businesses out of the market.

Under these conditions, the Democratic Party will support another program with the IMF where control is needed to be even stronger because of the economic situation and fiscal balances with the corruptive concession project.”

Basha stressed that the Democratic Party will continue to propose concrete solutions and remains determined to denounce corruption affairs./tvklan.al
