Berisha: The vote against the US influenced by Turkey
The opposition’s draft resolution urging the government to withdraw from their position nearly a month ago, where it voted against the US request to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, has brought debate back to the Assembly. Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Albania’s position in this vote sees it as dictated by Turkey and according to him; it will cause a breakdown of relations with the country’s biggest ally, the US.
But Prime Minister Rama, sees the reopening of this debate as a maneuver to draw attention from what he calls the new justice that is starting to work.
According to democrats, the vote against the US it’s only one of the evil things that Edi Rama’s government is doing to Albanians.
The Foreign Minister clarified that Albania’s position on UN vote is stable and lists all the resolutions where Albania, as it did on December 21, has had a different attitude towards US on the case of Israel.
While debate was held in parliament, the Socialist Party addressed the Assembly with a parallel resolution calling on the government, in accordance with the national interest, to continue to cooperate in strengthening peace, security and cooperation throughout the East Middle East, with allies and strategic partners, primarily US and EU./tvklan.al
