Vlahutin: We expect results, criminal gangs to be cracked down
The EU ambassador in Albania, Romana Vlahutin, has required for deep investigations regarding members of criminal organizations and anyone who violates the law, regardless the function that each of them has.
In her speech at the conference on launching the European PAMECA V program in support of the police, Vlahutin made it clear that proactive investigations should be conducted to crack down on the most important elements of the criminal cannabis cultivation groups.
“In 2017, we first saw a drastic drop in cannabis production, but we expect the Guardia di Finanza report in the coming summer to ensure that the victory is long-lasting. We have also seen a number of successful police operations in Shkodra, Fier, Lezha and other cities that have stroke the criminal groups. We are finally seeing more determination to confiscate criminal assets. And I believe this is just the beginning, which must eventually be strengthened and followed by the tough operations that must hit the key crime interests. In these efforts, the work of the prosecution is essential. And we all look forward to more efficient criminal investigation results.
No one can be above the law
regardless of their name or function. It is the prosecution’s responsibility to make sure they face the justice. There must be clear evidence of proactive investigations, prosecutions and, finally, convictions against organized criminal groups, including the most important members of the groups involved in cultivating and trafficking cannabis still need to be defined as an urgent issue”,
