IMF to assist PPP projects
The Albanian Government will accept the technical assistance of the International Monetary Fund in public-private partnership projects.
Sources at the Ministry of Finance suggest that in principle, the bid offered by the IMF to work with Albanian authorities for concession programs, which is made in cooperation with the private and the fiscal risks they can bear, has been accepted.
Concretely, the Fund has asked to provide its assistance in cost analysis, which in the future is forced to pay the state budget for contracts invested by private companies and the economic benefits of these projects.
A group of experts are expected to come to Albania to monitor contracts to see the profitability of PPP projects.
Currently, the IMF continues to assist several areas in the General Taxation Directorate, from fiscal good governance to tax control and behavior with taxpayers of this administration.
In some of its reports, the Fund has asked the Albanian government to look and study well the budget costs that will arise in the future from the works to be built under the PPP formula./tvklan.al
