Kotzias: We have no secret agreement with Tirana
Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias responded in parliament to the concerns of former Minister Dora Bakoyannis for a secret agreement with Albania regarding the maritime issue. He said there was no secret negotiation between Tirana and Athens, adding that the new agreement would be better than 2009.
Kotzias further said that Athens is awaiting authorization from President Meta for the Albanian side in order to begin the final talks.
“We will see if Meta will first authorize the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue the implementation. Naturally, the mandate given by Mr. Meta will be based on the instructions of the Constitutional Court of Albania, which for us are neither right nor appropriate, nor something we have to undergo”.
Greek minister explained that the Greek side has a group of 10 negotiators, consisting of eight officers, a prominent personality of international legal thinking and a cartographer, dismissing allegations that he has included in negotiations his political office associates./tvklan.al
