16:17 19/03/2018

Today was held the first meeting of the Inquiry Committee on the former SP Minister of Internal Affairs, Saimir Tahiri. The meeting started with debates between majority and opposition.

Majority’s request to postpone the next meeting on the next Monday caused the debates, arguing that it takes a week to prepare the regulation and the investigation plan.

Democrat MP, Edi Paloka, declared that the committee aims to conduct a minute inquiry on Tahiri’s alleged involvement in the international drugs smuggling.

On the other side the Socialist MP, Ermonela Felaj declared that inquiring process should be preceded by a detailed plan of work thus can’t start immediately.

The Inquiry Committee will verify the legality of the acts of the Assembly, government and the effects of these two powers’ interference in the investigation of former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri, to which the Serious Crimes Prosecution has launched an investigation. Due to the secret materials that will be reviewed, a security certificate will be provided to the Committee’s members./tvklan.al
