US congratulatory message to Albania
The US Embassy has congratulated Albania on the decision of the EU foreign ministers to open negotiations with Albania and Macedonia in the summer of 2019 if certain predefined conditions are met.
In a statement to the media, the US Embassy in Tirana said Albania has made significant progress and now needs to step up efforts to complete key reforms.
“We congratulate Albania on the positive decision regarding the opening of EU accession talks. Albania has made significant progress, and now needs to step up efforts to conclude key reforms. We encourage Albania to increase momentum on judicial reform, anti-corruption and anti-organized crime”
