Governor Sejko meeting with the IMF mission
Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko held a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund headed by the new chief of this mission in Albania Jan Kees Martijn.
The head of the Central Bank has briefed the IMF mission on the latest economic developments in Albania. He said that the country’s economic environment is stable and provides conditions for a positive economic growth, supported by the manufacturing sector, such as energy, agriculture and tourism.
The International Monetary Fund is also informed about the banking market and the entry of new actors in this market and the liquidation of this system. Governor Sejko said that changes in bank owners are being carried out on the basis of laws and regulations, while the banking sector is well-capitalized at a time when bad loans have fallen to 13.3%.
The Bank also talked with the IMF on exchange rate movements, while the Fund’s mission appreciated the work done by this institution./tvklan.al
