Genoa tragedy, two Albanians among the victims

Albanian Embassy in Italy has confirmed that two Albanian young men were killed in Genoa after bridge collapsed on Tuesday morning. The victims are, Marjus Djerri, 22 and Admir Bokrina, 31 years old. Their lifeless bodies were taken out of ruins yesterday night.

At the time of the tragedy, the two young people were traveling with the van of the Italian firm 'Euro Pulizia' where they were employed for cleaning services. On Tuesday they were headed toward Rapalos, a town about 30 miles west of Genoa.

Marjus Djerri, originally from Shijaku, lived for years in Italy with his family. While other Albanian Admir Bokrina was originally from Shkodra.

Operations to extract the survivors continue in the ruins of the collapsed bridge. The death toll of the tragedy has reached 39 people while 16 remained injured. Among the victims there is is also a 8 years old boy, as well as two teenagers aged 12 and 13 years old.

The collapse of the bridge has damaged tens of buildings in the area. So far, more than 630 homeless people have been counted who were evacuated by the authorities since their houses risk to ve demolished./tvklan.al
