Albania: High ranked police chief arrested
The Police chief at the southwestern city of Vlora was arrested Thursday night accused of favoring cannabis cultivation in Vlora region.
Haki Hasabegaj is also accused of leaking anti-drugs operations of Vlora Police.
The news comes days after senior Albanian ministers accused several high ranked police chiefs in the country of cooperating with the organized crime.
Albanian Justice Minister Ylli Manjani was fired from the office on Monday after criticizing the wide-spread of cannabis cultivation in Albania and police’s failure to arrest Klement Balili, an Albanian national accused by Greece and Italy for being part of an international drug trafficking network. /tvklan.al
