Albanian community protection, Greek government’s priority
The protection of immigrants and especially the Albanian community is a priority of the Greek government. This is what Greek Interior Minister Panagiotis Skouletis expressed, during the meeting with the Minister of State for Diaspora, Pandeli Majko in Athens.
While praising the Greek government for the kindness shown to foreigners, mainly Albanians, Majko emphasized the renewal of relations between the two countries. The Minister of State for Diaspora cited recent meetings between Greek and Albanian Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers, who said that they forwarded very clear messages on bilateral ties.
“Both countries have a common future”, Majko said. The Diaspora Minister called for more attention to simple topics, such as learning the Albanian language. Regarding this issue, the Greek Interior Minister claimed that maintaining the language is very important. The Greek interior ministry has created a new position, the Secretary of State for Citizenship Issues, which during the meeting he was careful to assure the Minister that they are working to facilitate the procedures for the integration of children into Greek society.
Greek Interior Minister also said that Albania will have full support from Greece in trying to integrate into the EU./tvklan.al
