Albanian minister asks Hahn to influence Serbia on interconnection line with Kosovo
Albanian Minister of Energy and Industry asked Thursday the European Commissioner fore Enlargement negotiations Johannes Hahn to influence Serbia in resolving the interconnection power line between Albania and Kosovo.
Albanian Minister Damian Gjiknuri, and his Kosovo and Serbian counterparts met with Commissioner Hahn Thursday in Skopje, Macedonia as part of the Western Balkans ministerial.
The same request for Hahn was made also by Kosovo Minister of Economic Development Gani Koçi.
Albania and Kosovo build an interconnection power line that costed 75 million euros, but Belgrade has blocked it since inaugurated eight months before, as Serbia does not recognize Kosovo Transmission Operator.
Serbian Minister said that this issue would be solved only in talks held between Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels.
Kosovo has declared the independence in 2008, and is recognized by over 110 states, including the U.S., Germany, France and Britain. Serbia and it’s ally Russia do not recognize the newest country in Europe as independent.
