Albanian PM holds unannounced visit to Kosovo

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama held on Thursday an unannounced visit to Kosovo, where he met with Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and visited the headquarters of Ramush Haradinaj’s Party.

The focus of the meeting held at the headquarters of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo was Haradinaj’s arrest in France upon a request issued by Serbia in 2004.

Rama said that once Haradinaj will be free, hopefully within the next week, Albania and Kosovo must start the joint work to clear these lists.

He hinted that the two countries would start a joint campaign to make Serbia withdraw these lists, where they accuse former Kosovo Liberation Army fighters for alleged crimes during Kosovo War, when in fact they have fight against Serbian army.

Serbian PM Alexander Vucic condemned Rama’s visit at the party’s headquarters saying the international community would have reacted if he would have visited the headquarters of an extreme Serbian party in region.

But the Alliance for Future of Kosovo fired back at Vucicc, saying the Party is registered at an independent state, and they would not ask him when to welcome Albanian Prime Minister.

Former Kosovo PM Ramush Haradinaj was arrested in France a month ago, after an international arrest warrant was issued by Serbia back in 2004. Haradniaj was later released on bail, but he is not allowed to leave France until another court verdict. Serbia has issued arrest warrants for tens of former Kosovo Liberation Army fighters and accuses them to have killed Serbian civilians. Haradniaj was previously found innocent by the International Court of Hague.

Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia in 2008 and is recognized by over 110 countries, including the U.S., Germany and France. Serbia and its ally Russia do not recognize Kosovo as an independent state./tvklan.al
