Albanian population census to be hold in 2020
On October 1st 2020, Albania will start the population census, its main characteristics and housing. This time this process will be called “Censi” and not “Census”, a word that is entirely Albanian, explains Delina Ibrahimaj, director of the Institute of Statistics in an interview with Klan Television. To avoid the political influences of the process, it was chosen that the census should take place after 9 years, rather than 10 as it should normally take place.
Delina Ibrahimaj, Director of the Institute of Statistics:
We want to make sure that the data is as accurate and reliable as possible, not having influence from political elections.
The questionnaire this time also includes the ethnicity and religious beliefs of the individual, but unlike the previous census the answer is left optional.
Delina Ibrahimaj, Director of the Institute of Statistics:
These questions will not be mandatory. Individuals will be free whether to answer or not these questions.
Those who refuse to answer or give wrong answers will be fined with 100,000 ALL. There will also be penalties for institutions or companies that collect personal data 6 weeks before the census starts.
Excluded from the census are only the diplomatic representatives in Albania.
The questions are related to the essential characteristics of individuals, those of their place and of the economic and social nature./tvklan.al
