Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras declared that Albania and Greece are in the final phase of the negotiations on the delimitation of the maritime areas and the package of issues carried by World War II, something that was also confirmed by Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati. The last issues awaiting the parties’ agreement are just three.

“Negotiations are not closed; we are in the process of negotiating. We have a draft agreement on marine areas and one for pyramids and the management of border incidents”.

The finalization of the negotiations date it’s difficult to be provided by the Albanian side, although Commissioner Hahn was more optimistic than Minister Bushati.

“If I can confirm whether they will be completed within two weeks, it is a process that will require its time”.

The last word in this process belongs to the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, whom Foreign Minister says there is no reason for the head of state to block the authorization for the agreement.

“For each round of talks, the Foreign Ministry has prepared a written report to the President and Prime Minister. When the negotiations are closed in the technical plan we will then ask the President for authorization to sign. With the president we have institutional communication and will go so until the end of this process there is no reason for the protagonist and blocking of this process”.

These statements were given following the report to the Foreign Parliamentary Committee where he was summoned to a hearing on the analytical process that Albania will be subjected to in the opening of negotiations next June./tvklan.al
