French Interior Minister: 20% of asylum seekers in France are Albanians
20% of refugees in France are Albanians. This is what French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb, which is conducting a two-day visit to Tirana, said.
During the joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister Collomb informed Minister of Interior Fatmir Xhafaj about the phenomenon of Albanian departure from the country. According to him, asylum seekers in France have become a problem.
“This morning, with the Minister of Interior, we had a very long meeting with asylum seekers because we have a problem in the places where we have to wait for asylum seekers, 20% are taken by Albanians because they have come without a visa”,
the Interior Minister of France said.
However, Collomb emphasized that there is cooperation from Albanian authorities to fight illegal asylum seekers in France. Minister Collomb also praised the work done between the two countries for the fight against organized crime.
“Also in the fight against criminal networks, cooperation between countries is an indispensable cooperation and thanks to the partnership we have with European countries should be such that we can achieve results. We have a strengthening of these relations”,
Interior Minister of France said.
