Greek media: Meta does not authorize the maritime agreement
The Maritime Agreement is being suspended by the President of the Republic. Just as Klan Television announced last week, Greek media say it is the head of state, Ilir Meta, who is hesitant to give authorization for signing a maritime agreement between Albania and Greece.
It is “the progress of the Greece-Albania agreement it’s implicated, as President Ilir Meta does not authorize Edi Rama’s government to continue (in signing the agreement) as it has an institutional duty to do”, Greek media “News 24” reports.
Nikos Kotzias and Ditmir Bushati continue to intensify today efforts to finalize the agreement so that Prime Ministers Alexis Tsipras and Edi Rama go to the final stage, while expressing optimism that Ilir Meta will change his stance, under the pressure of the international factor.
Contacted by Tv Klan, the President’s press office says the head of state decided not to communicate with the media on this issue. While last week after a meeting with Prime Minister Rama, he underlined personal concern over the lack of functioning of the Constitutional Court, which would be the guarantor of a new agreement between the two states for naval space, following the collapse of what was signed by governments of Berisha and Karamanlis in 2009./tvklan.al
