Italian prosecutor: Albanian mafia linked with politicians and police
Italian Anti-mafia prosecutor Federico Cafiero De Raho made strong statements from Tirana after a meeting with the Minister of Interior Affairs and the Interim Chief Prosecutor.
Speaking to journalists and mentioning the case of Italy, the anti-mafia prosecutor said that the Albanian mafia has been strengthened and established links with politicians and police.
“Even the Albanian mafia has managed to go beyond Albanian territories and they have links with the politicians. The Albanian mafia may have occupied institutions, including the police. We have to fight these organizations”
, Federico Cafiero De Raho said.
Also in Italian territory, Albanian criminal organizations are cooperating with Italian mafia groups in drug trafficking, the Italian prosecutor said, adding that the involvement of Albanians in cocaine trafficking has significantly increased recently.
“Criminal groups in Albania are making alliances with groups in Italy. We are very concerned about cocaine trafficking”
