Jerusalem issue, Albania votes against the United States
The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution calling on the United States to withdraw from its decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The non-binding resolution was adopted by 128 states, 9 voted against and 35 countries abstained. Among the countries that voted against the United States and the pro-UN resolution is Albania.
US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said any decision taken by the United Nations will not affect Washington’s conviction of Jerusalem’s recognition as Israel’s capital. In her speech at today’s session, Ambassador Haley said that the United States is the largest contributor to the United Nations, far greater than other countries, and that this should be respected by others.
Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has named the “victory for Palestine” vote at the UN./tvklan.al
