“Many Excluded Children” report, Albania ranks last in the region

“Save the Children” organization published today on the International Children’s Day, the report “Many Excluded Children”, where Albania is ranked 77th out of 175 countries rated worldwide.

This position shows that there are still children in Albania who have missed their childhood. Albania is the country with the highest infant mortality in the region, 13.5 deaths per 1 thousand births. Albania has the highest level in the region for the delay in raising children, 23.1 percent of children 0-5 years old.

Nearly 8.5 of Albanian children are out of the primary and middle education system. About 5.1 percent of them are involved in heavy work.

Based on these indicators, Albania has the lowest rankings compared to the countries of the region: Bosnia and Herzegovina ranked the 39th, Serbia the 46th, Montenegro the 53th, Macedonia the 66th and Albania the 77th.

“Save the Children” urged the government to ensure that no child dies from preventable or obstructive causes or is a victim of violence.

“No child’s future should be robbed due to malnutrition, early forced marriage, early pregnancy or forced labor, but children should be allowed access to quality education and be offered opportunities to develop their potentials”

More than 1.2 billion children live in conflict-affected countries, “Save the Children” reports, where poverty is widespread and discrimination against girls is high.

More than a billion children live in poverty-stricken countries, 240 million live in conflict-affected countries, and more than 575 million children live in places where women’s discrimination is a serious matter.

While 153 million children live in countries affected by all three risks together.

In the “End of Childhood” index, countries like Singapore, Slovenia rank first, followed by Norway, Sweden and Finland as the least affected countries in the world.
