Parliament appoints the interim Chief Prosecutor
In a heated situation, between tension and smokers cast by opposition MPs, the ruling majority voted Arta Marku in the post of the acting Chief Prosecutor.
At the same time the chief prosecutor made the oath.
Opposition’s leader Lulzim Basha considered the election unconstitutional by the majority of the chief prosecutor and requested the removal of this issue from the agenda, but his request was rejected by the speaker of the parliament Ruçi.
“You are determined to violate the constitution to protect your assets. This is the last time I ask you to withdraw on behalf of the Constitution. This is the command of the people obey him or deal with the consequences”.
Meanwhile the opposition also protested outside the Assembly. Citizens tried several times to enter the courtyard of the parliament, to go to the hall, but were not allowed by law enforcement.
Former Prime Minister Berisha, after the closing of the session, said the opposition should also see the possibility of burning mandates.
While parliamentary speaker Taulant Balla once again stressed that the process was legitimate.
A few minutes after the vote of the interim chief prosecutor, the opposition protest was also closed, with its supporters quietly dispersed./tvklan.al
