Police vetting, 130 employees with criminal records detected

As announced by the Ministry of Justice for the Vetting, in the Institutions for the Execution of Criminal Verdicts 

(IECV)

the General Directorate of Prisons is conducting the verification of the criminal records of convicts reported from the court registry for all judicial police employees at all levels.

In a media announcement it is stated that

“This verification is based on Article 17 point 1 / d of the Law no. 10032 “On the Prison Police”, where it is explicitly stated that one of the general criteria for admission to the Prison Police is the police officers “not be criminally convicted by a final court verdict”.

Based on the verification carried out by the structures of the Ministry of Justice and the General Directorate of Prisons, so far it results that about 130 persons are penalized.

“In pursuit of the target for guaranteeing the integrity of employees in each

IECV,the General Directorate of Prisons will initiate a disciplinary procedure against persons who have resulted with criminal records”,
