Thaci asks EU and NATO to warn Serbia
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci asket the European Union and NATO to “warn Serbia to refrain from the scenario of promoting a new conflict in Kosovo and the region.”
Thaci, in a statement published on Thursday, requested from Serbia not to evoke fear and inter-ethnic hatred among the Serb community living in the northern part of Kosovo.
The call comes as Serbian President Timoslacv Nikolic held separate meetings on Thursday with the ambassadors of Russia, China and the United States, on what Serbia calls “problematic situation” in Kosovo.
Thaci said that “this propaganda orchestrated by Serbia aims the intimidation of the citizens of Kosovo living in the north of the country and the prevention of their full integration process in the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.”
“Throughout the entire history so far, the state of Serbia has manipulated and victimized, for their own political purposes, the Serb community living in Kosovo. The consequences of such a destructive approach are evident even today,” he said.
Thaci went on inviting Serbia to renounce from such practices which do not serve in any form to the reconciliation process and the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
The president reassured the Serb community living in Kosovo that no harm will ever be happen to them from the security institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, which are democratic and protect the lives of all citizens wherever they are, regardless of their ethnic belonging./tvklan.al
