The money of “Arbri Garden” seized
38 thousand Euros and 10 million ALL were found in the bank accounts of two companies that had ordered 613 kilos of cocaine in the Durrës Harbour. Police said the money was sequestered in companies belonging to Arbër Çekaj, the chief accused of ordering cocaine from Colombia.
Money is suspected of being generated by the criminal activity of citizens detained by the police.
“The Criminal Police Department, in cooperation with the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office under the “Power of Law” operation, are continuing intensive investigations for this suspected group operating in the field of drug trafficking”
, the police announced.
In February this year, police seized 613kg of cocaine during an operation codenamed “Last Snow”. The drug was hidden in a double-layered ship loaded with banana to be dispatched to a warehouse in Maminas owned by “Arbri Garden”.
The truck driver Armando Pezaku and Donald Lushaj were arrested in flagrance. They were imprisoned by the Court for Serious Crimes.
While Arber Çekaj, the owner of the company “Arbri Garden” was arrested in an area near Dusseldorf in Germany.
Albanian authorities are expected to start extradition procedures.
Çekaj is accused of international smuggling in narcotics within the structured criminal group, but he has denied involvement in cocaine trafficking./tvklan.al
