The property tax will be paid along with the electricity bill
The issue of postponing property tax collection in accordance with the new methodology, which should have been implemented since 1 April, has made the Finances remit the right given to local government to appoint the tax agent itself to collect money. By a draft decision, Finance Minister Arben Ahmetaj proposes that the tax be collected at the electricity bill.
In April, the government decided that the local government would elect the agent himself, and from the vast majority of the municipalities was assigned a water supply, but it is now proposed that the new agent be Electricity Distribution Operator. For this service in the distribution company’s cashier will exceed 4% of the total tax to be collected.
From January of next year on the electricity bill will be added the new amount of the building tax.
The concept of wealth taxation according to the new method is its value, where for households it will be 0.05% per annum and for businesses 0.15%.
