U.S. Ambassador Lu: A year full of challenges awaits Albania

The U.S. ambassador in Albania Donald Lu said that a year full of challenges awaits the country when it comes to implementing the judicial reform and holding general elections.

U.S. Ambassador Donald Lu was speaking with students and lecturers at the Faculty of History and Philology in capital Tirana on Wednesday.

 The Ambassador commented the importance of the general elections Albania will hold on June 18th and the implementation of the judicial reform, one of the topics that has occupied Lu’s agenda during the last year.

Lu was one of the main Ambassadors in Albania to push for the judicial reform to be approved by the parliament.

In his remarks, Lu commented the new U.S. Administration and its Foreign Policy. “The White House has defined the President’s foreign policy goal as a stable, more peaceful world with less conflict and more common ground,” he said.  

The Ambassador also responded to questions related to NATO, noting that the U.S. would encourage more contributions from all alliance members, the U.S. embassy in Tirana said in its Facebook page.  

The Ambassador said that defeating ISIS has been defined as one of the highest foreign policy priorities, a goal shared with more than sixty countries in the anti-ISIS coalition, including Albania./tvklan.al
